Weather permitting, our classes head outside every day. And there’s a good reason we make outdoor play a non-negotiable part of the schedule — it supports nearly every area of a young child’s development.

Physically, climbing the playground equipment builds strength, balance, and coordination. Socially, sharing a swing or taking turns on the slide teaches negotiation and patience. Emotionally, time in fresh air and sunshine helps regulate mood and burn off the kind of energy that’s hard to contain indoors.

Parents often ask what they can do at home to support this. The answer is simple: get outside together. A walk around the block, a trip to a local park, or even just digging in the backyard provides exactly the kind of unstructured, exploratory play young children need most.
